PHOTO CALL – 2 RECIPE CONCEPTS

I’m SO excited to share the Recipe Concept for a recent Wheel Spin winner from one of my DOG IN THE KITCHEN Photo Contests!!

Meet Sir Winston—a most handsome English Setter that I’ve had the honor of drooling over in person .Winston’s reputation preceded him… this is a dog who loves food so much, it makes him drool. SOOT fully agrees—that is a proper trait for any serious food critic.

His owner Robin and I chatted about a few dishes that would suit Winston’s refined (and enthusiastic) palate and “Put a little English on it”…., while still fitting my illustration style… and I kept coming back to a cozy classic:

COTTAGE PIE (or Shepherd’s Pie)—that hearty, humble British pub favorite layered with savory meat and veggies, all tucked under a blanket of creamy mashed potatoes. It just felt… right for Sir Winston ?

Now comes the fun part—testing my own version of this classic (which I’ve made many times over the years). I just need to dial in the perfect measurements. Stay tuned!

And another new ARTMUSE REVEAL — Meet ALEXA & JALLO

From my REAR VIEW photo call, a fluffy little muse hind end stepped forward or backed into the room! Miss “Alexa”, owned by Layla Loveless — loyal watcher of the doggie door and guardian of “what’s on the other side.”

And joining her in the kitchen is the ever-charming “Jallo”, a Finnish Lapphund owned by Caroline Henrich — bringing that unmistakable “I smell snacks” expression from the LOOK OF LOVE photo call.

Don’t trust humans that don’t like tacos

Together, they’re quite certain of one thing…It must be Taco Tuesday just beyond the door. But wait…On the other side of that little window sits SOOT the cat, cool as can be… holding a *tiny taco* ….just enough to tease.

I’m still cooking up the official recipe and final recipe illustrations, but you can expect flavor, fixins, and a little playful mischief.
