My name is Sandra Miller, and art is at the heart of everything I do. I create from my studio in beautiful Portland, Oregon, where life is shared with my husband Steve and our charming “Dog in the Kitchen,” Ihana—my constant muse and taste-tester behind the scenes of this creative journey.
Through my artwork and the Dog in the Kitchen project, I love blending creativity, storytelling, and a touch of everyday magic.

Hey there jan!!! OMG it’s so good to hear from you! I bet you are totally loving having some real garden space …..it is my refuge. Althought my husband would say he woudn’t trade France for a garden..lol! Well he isn’t a gardener so he just wouldn’t understand us would he…lol
He is currently studying FRENCH believe it or not!!! Does this mean a trip back to Paris in the near future??? I sure hope so but my first request would be a return to Monets Gardens at Giverny..the best of both worlds in my book.
Have a super day Jan!!!
Hi Sandra! It’s so exciting to see your garden in early spring when everything is just coming to life. After living downtown on cobblestones in central France for four years, and relying on a nearby park to provide my “fix” for heirloom roses and planted flower beds, I yearned to have a home with ample ground to have a garden to enjoy that would attract songbirds and critters. When we moved back to South Carolina, we chose an area in the city which is a bird sanctuary, unbeknown to us at the time! Now, after nearly two years home, we have beautiful wildflowers, bulbs, trees, vegetables and herbs, a large variety of birds sing all the time, colorful butterfiles, and cute chipmunks that entertain our dog and kitty. Thanks for sharing your garden photos. They are beautiful, inspiring and remind me how much I feel you are a kindred spirit to me. Happy Spring and enjoy your beautiful space! Hugs, Jan
