My photo featured..GOURMET magazine…and a panda tidbit

I’ve been itching to see this story go up today so I could post it here!! Yesterday the editor of Gourmet magazine (yep..this one is the biggie) asked permission to use the image below of a wonderful fella I photographed at the Portland Farmers Market earlier this spring.  This guy makes French cheeses in a traditional style and even  has a cheese making school and raises Great Pyreneese dogs for protection of herds and property.  The MONTEILLET FROMAGERIE

Well of course I said “please be my guest” to use the photo.  This fella was such a flirt and I loved his expression when I snapped this shot.  His helper was just chillin out behind the counter.  This is by far some of the best cheese I have ever eaten and need to go back this weekend to stock up again..now that you mention it..lol!

Kathe that ‘s so cool about your niece.  Steve loves to cook too.  I give him cooking courses at our local cooking school for his b’day every year.  He’s getting really good which gives me more time to do my art!! Woo Hoo

  3. Thank you VERY much Amiee!!!  Gourmet editors found me at my Flickr photostream!! Pretty much all of my published photos in magazines and on websites were found on Flickr.

The best way to get photos discovered is in writing a title and using tags that are very descriptive….you need to second guess the words folks might be searching on and add them in to each photo.  It really works well .

Thanks about the pendant too.  It is really fun in person.  I love organic donut shapes so much.  I just got it out of the kiln 5 minutes ago and it is done and ready for me to finish beading.. I’ll post pix today!!

  4. Sandra,   Congrats!!  You do take such beautiful pictures, it is no wonder they choose you.  Just curious, how did this come to be?  Did you submit it, or did they find you?  Would love to know the back story of this wonderful achievment!  The pendant is sooo beautiful, I wish I was in a position to purchase!! Am already drooling over the “idea’s” that are going through my mind of a finished necklace!!
