The first few photos are from a day ago . I wanted to show everyone who was curious how the wine is stored. Steve is doing his wine post tonite with lots of photos so I’m only posting a few. This is at Pegau which is one of the most famous Chateuneuf du Pape producers in the region. The owner is pouring wine directly from the barrel for us to taste..We tasted at least 8 vintages…..
I have quite the glow down in that cellar. You would think I had drank the whole barrel. This was after about 5 different tastings
Many of you asked how do we bring wine home?? We usually drink what we buy here but always check with the winemaker who their U.S . distributors are. We have found that it’s actually cheaper to purchase from the distributor after we get home than to buy here and purchase packaging , pay the extra airline fees etc. The only bottles we bring home with us are the rarities that a producer will not export.
Now we are on the road to Sain Remy where our boutique style bed and breakfast is for the next two days
I’ve been holding out on posting all my graffiti photos I’ve been taking. I have always said France has the best wall art and graffiti . My friend Jan K has sent me many French “pieces” when she lived here too. I have hundreds of pix I will show you all when I return home
On the backroads we got side tracked and met a few pricks…ohhhhhhhh bad pun. These huge cactus were just starting to bloom
We seriously wandered off onto the goat paths. It was beautiful back here. Our GPS was freaking out and sending us in circles. We were laughing so hard if the cops had seen us he would have done a breath test…and we hadn’t had any wine yet!!
More beautiful flora on the backroads. They never really have a non blooming season here
An old cemetary…just beautiful on the hill
Lunch time at last I was ravinous
We loved the mousetrap they used to keep the meal ticket on our table in the outdoor cafe
I took this sitting in the cafe…OH SO FRENCH
Beautiful fall harvest of apples on the street corner
Here is a cute little old bob tail kitty that loved Steve of course!
A couple of beautiful critters at more wineries on the way
This sweet old whippet was basking in the afternoon sun
Another winery had a huge koi pond
Were here ..,,were here in Saint Remy at our very cool boutique Bed and Breakfast!!! Try as they may, 4 pandas and one camel cannot break into our new bottle of wine!! This is in our private “garden room”. This place is unreal!!
Here is the outdoor space. There are about 12 rooms on this stunning estate which has been converted to individual rooms with a pool, water fountains and awesome garden plantings. I’ll show you the inside later
The room key
More of the sitting area
We are now heading to breakfast and then to the Saint Remy market which is only on Wednesday which is the reason we scheduled to be here today. Here we come Frommage and Lavendar!!! Im so excited!! Will update tonite!!!
Thanks so much everyone for all your comments. We love reading each and every one.
