I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you to all our military families and veterans who over the decades have sacrificed so much to make our country safe and secure!!!! You brave and selfless men and women totally ROCK in my book!
Check out this photo my mom recently restored of my daddy (the handsome guy…far right) at a Canteen in Florida. This was his first beer in months in the Navy.. and by the looks of it……..not his last brewski those boys consumed that night…lol! He was 17 when he enlisted!
I sure miss my dad but all these great photos and stories my mom has been preserving using Photoshop brings forward a side of him I never really knew. Thank you mom for giving me these “new” memories of daddy.
And of course you need to see mom too…this was after dad returned from WWII and they got married and moved to Kansas City. Dad was attending the KC Art Institute and Mom worked at Hallmark Cards!
Nice family photos, it’s always good to take a step back and see “how it was”. My Dad was a 3 tour Vietnam Vet, 28 yrs in the US Army – 2 Purple Hearts, Craig our Son In Law is serving his second tour in irag. USN and 3 boys who spent many years at my house are also there, USMC,US Army and USAF. SO I have many ties to many branches of the Service. I am a member of and I also volunteer at the Fleet Reserve Association, so I deal with our Servicemen and Ladies on a regualer basis, both old and young and their Families. I love it! And it truly is an honor to serve those who have and still are serving us. USMC Birthday was also Monday -HOOAH!SALUTE!!! To all our Men and Women whi prudly serve.
Wow!!!! wonderful!!! when i first saw your dads pic i knew immediately he was your dad. wow….you look alot like him….and then again…..you have your mom’s gorgeous looks too!!!! isnt it wild? i love these types of pics. just recently i dug out my dads army scrapbook and the images are just incredible. my dad was in New Guinea and the Phillipines and Japan in the war. we have incredible photos from that time…..destruction and also just the beauty of the land!!! amazing what these guys had to suffer through. my dad was in the army air medical corp.

I love the pic’s!! When I was looking at the pic of your Pa, I definitely saw the resemblance from the pics I have seen of you. Of course I thought the same when I scrolled down and saw your Ma. I love his Navy uniform, great picture! My Father-In-Law worked for Hallmark in New York until 1978, even owned his own store. Then he went to American Greetings until he retired in 2002. Thanks so much for sharing!
Oh how funny Jan!!! Did he design the Hallmark in KC?? It’s weird looking at those pix of mom and dad. I have always looked just like dad for years but now seeing moms photo again here……I’m looking a LOT like her now. I agree!! I”m calling you today!!
What neat photos Sandy – you look just like your mom! Maybe her Hallmark training rubbed off on you – both art-wise and writing-wise. Did you know Larry also works for Hallmark- well at least in a way – designing some of their buildings. small world! Jan
